Unless otherwise noted, the MDC meets from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. in downtown Seattle (Plaza 600 Bldg., 6th Ave & Stewart St., Suite 205) on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month - except for November and December, when we meet just once a month - to hear from arranged speakers and discuss issues over our brown bag lunches or snacks from the nearby delis. Guests are always welcome to join us, so feel free to bring along your lunch and a family member, friend or colleague!

Convenient and relatively inexpensive parking can always be found in the garage at Pacific Place, two short blocks south on Sixth Avenue (see below for directions).

September 10 Committee meeting Single-payer task force, 10:00 - 11:30 am, coffee shop at Barnes & Noble, Pacific Place.

September 10 Membership meeting Part 1: "Let's Pull the Plug on the Columbia Generating Station." MDC Director Peggy Maze Johnson and Charles K Johnson, a recognized expert on nuclear power plants, explain why this nuclear waste generating plant should be shut down. Part 2: Justin Simmons leads the continuing discussion of proposed revisions to the bylaws.

September 19 Deadline for those voting by mail to return general endorsement ballots. Ballots will be mailed with September newsletter.

September 24 Committee meeting Single-payer task force, 10:00 - 11:30 am, coffee shop at Barnes & Noble, Pacific Place.

September 24 Membership meeting Part 1: Seattle City Councilmember Tom Rasmussen talks about Proposition 1, Seattle Transportation Benefit District. Part 2: General endorsements proceedings. Part 3: Discussion of proposed revisions to bylaws may continue.

September 27 Barbecue fundraiser MDC is sponsoring a fundraiser to support MDC Director Louis Watanabe's bid for senate in the 37th LD, 2:00 - 4:00 pm, 1718 S Stevens St. More information on page 1.

October 8 Membership meeting Jaxon Ravens, chair of the Washington State Democrats, will talk about "The State of the National Democratic Party and Local Democrats."

October 22 Membership meeting "What is TPP, How Does it Differ From NAFTA, and Why Should We Oppose it?" featuring Dr Stan Sorscher, president of the Washington Fair Trade Coalition; Gillian Locasico, campaign organizer for Washington Fair Trade Coalition; and Michael Righi, sustainable food advocate member of Community Alliance for Global Justice.

November 8 Annual planning retreat, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, 600 Plaza Building #205. Lunch provided.

November 19 Membership meeting Panel discussion "Beyond Ferguson" features King County Sheriff John Urquhart and others to be determined.

December 14 Winter Holiday Party. Time and place to be determined.

December 17 Membership meeting Review/approve operating plan.
